REGISTRATION OF AN INDIVIDUAL CAT

Each Application for registration must be accompanied by:

1. A minimum of a 3-generation Certified pedigree from another association on the cat for which application is being made and a photocopy of a registration certificate from that association showing proof that the cat is owned by the person making the application and asking to be named the owner of the cat. Fee - $15 each.

OR

2. A minimum of a 3-generation pedigree, stating the color and pattern and the registering association's assigned registration number, for each ancestor listed. This pedigree must be signed by the breeder of the cat for which application is being made and must include a statement that this pedigree is true and correct to the best of the breeder's knowledge, and a statement as to whether the cat may or may not breed. In addition, a photocopy of a registration certificate from the association showing proof that the cat is owned by the person making the application and asking to be named the owner of the cat. Fee - $15 each.

OR

3. A completed Blue Slip (TICA Application for Registration of a Cat of a Registered Litter) form. The breeder must enter information as to sex, color, eye color, longhair (LH), shorthair (SH), standard (Std), non-standard (NStd). Std or NStd (Standard or Non-Standard) are terms for mutation breeds and may be used for whatever mutation exists for the breed being registered. Owner(s) may enter two choices of names for cat at top of form. The owner's name, address, and city are not allowed in the name of the cat unless it is a TICA registered cattery. The names of cats may not be changed in any manner after they have been registered, except for the correction of clerical errors in the Executive Office; the addition of a cattery name as provided in ARTICLE VIII, Sections 7, 8, and 10 of the Registration Rules; to re-register as Household Pets, TICA registered championship class cats pursuant to Show Rule 3.12.a; or pursuant to the Registration Rules, ARTICLE IX, Section 3.d. Names of cats and catteries may not be duplicated. Punctuation marks of any kind (&, ', #, etc.) are not allowed in the name of the cat with the exception of 's added to the breeder's registered cattery name as approved by the breeder. Cats may not be named after an ancestor without written permission of the owner of the ancestor; a letter attesting to such permission is to be filed with the Executive Office. See Registration Rules, ARTICLE IX. A cat's name, including cattery names and the word "of" may not exceed 35 letters/characters/spaces combined. When the name of the cat is longer than 35 letters/characters/spaces, the suffix will be automatically dropped. Type or print the name of the owner (may not exceed 35 letters/characters/spaces) of the cat and complete address, city, state/country, and zip/postal code. Fee - $10 each.
When the wrong blue slip has been used to register a cat, the first registration must be revoked ($7 fee) and the cat must be registered from the correct blue slip ($10 fee).
Where extenuating circumstances (i.e., death, repossession, etc.) are involved, application with applicable documentation will be considered on an individual basis by TICA's Executive Office.
At the time a litter is registered with TICA, Sections A, B, C, and D of the Litter Registration Application MUST be filled out. Please follow all instructions on reverse side of Litter Registration Application thus eliminating any delays. One or all of the kittens may also be individually registered by completing Section E for each kitten to be registered. (See Registration of a Litter.)

REGISTRATION OF A LITTER

1. Kittens of a TICA registered dam must be litter registered before they may be individually registered. To register a litter with TICA, the dam must be TICA registered. If the dam was not TICA registered at the time of breeding, she may be registered at the same time as the litter, provided the appropriate documents and fees are provided. (See Registration of an Individual Cat above.)

2. If the sire and dam have different owners, the Litter Registration Application form must be signed by both the owner of the sire and the owner of the dam. If the Sire or the Dam is registered to more than one owner with the word "and" between the names of the owners, then both owners must sign the Litter Registration Application. If the Sire or the Dam are registered to more than one owner with a "/" between the names of the owners, then only one of the owners must sign the Litter Registration Application.

3. It is not required that the sire be registered with TICA. If he is not, however, a copy of a CERTIFIED three-generation pedigree must be furnished with the litter registration documents, and the application must be signed by his owner(s). If the sire's CERTIFIED pedigree is already on file with the Executive Office, the application must so state.

4. The fee for registration of a litter where both the Sire and the Dam are TICA registered is $10. The fee for registration of a litter where the Sire is NOT TICA registered is $13 (CERTIFIED PEDIGREE on the sire is required). Kittens registered by use of Section E require an additional fee of $10 each.
Written permission from the previous owner of a cat that has been transferred after the litter was born is required.

CATTERY NAMES

Names of cats and catteries may not be duplicated.

The prefix position in a cat's registered name is reserved for the breeder's TICA registered cattery name. The breeder is always the owner of the dam at the time of mating. The suffix position in a cat's registered name is reserved for the owner's TICA registered cattery name. The suffix follows the word "of" after the registered name of the cat, i.e., BLUE STAR OF RED; BLUE is the breeder's registered cattery name, STAR is the name of the cat, and RED is the owner's registered cattery name. Breeders' cattery names may not be removed, however, the suffix may change with a transfer of ownership. Fee for deletion of a cattery suffix - $7. Fee for addition of a cattery suffix - $7.

A cattery name NOT registered with TICA is allowed on a CFA registered cat only if the owner and breeder are not the same. If the owner and breeder are the same, then they are notified that unless they register the cattery name in TICA, it will not be used on future registrations.
Cattery names may only be one word in length consisting of no more than 15 letters and must differ by at least two letters from an already registered cattery name unless being registered by the same owner of similar cattery name.
New cattery names may not contain:
more than 15 letters
punctuation marks (#, &, -, etc.)
apostrophes
spaces
hyphenations
more than one word
duplications
Apostrophes may not be added to cattery names when registering a cat.
A cattery name is a permanent record of the Association and may not be changed, however, you may register as many cattery names as you wish. Your cattery name may only be used as a prefix when you are the breeder; it may be used as a suffix when you are the registered owner of the cat. When transferring a cat into your name you may drop the suffix and add your cattery name for a fee of $7 for each addition or deletion. Any use of the word "of" in any language may denote a cattery suffix, and foreign translations for the word "of" will not be allowed i.e., av, de, etc.

NAMES OF CATS

Names of cats and catteries may not be duplicated.

Punctuation marks of any kind (&, ', #, etc.) are not allowed in the name of the cat.

Any name used as (Star of Bethlehem, Jack of Hearts) is not allowed with the word "of" . The "of" signifies a TICA registered cattery name follows. These names can be written as one word if the client desires.

The owner's name, address, and city are not allowed in the name of the cat unless it is a TICA registered cattery.

The names of cats may not be changed in any manner after they have been registered, except for the correction of clerical errors in the Executive Office; the addition of a cattery name as provided in ARTICLE EIGHT of the Registration Rules; to re-register as Household Pets, TICA registered championship class cats pursuant to the Show Rules 23.7; or pursuant to the Registration Rules, ARTICLE NINE, Section 39.4.3.

Correction (change in the spelling) to a registered cat’s name. Spelling and typographical corrections to a cat’s name must be made within 90 days of the registration with the proper fee. Changes to a cat’s name must follow the Registration Rules (39.4-39.4.4).
Any certified pedigree received for registration in TICA with a letter plus an asterisk (*) will be registered with TICA without the letter and the *. Normal procedures will be followed concerning the name of the cat without the letter and the *.

Cats may not be named after an ancestor without written permission of the owner of the ancestor; a letter attesting to such permission is to be filed with the Executive Office. See Registration Rules, ARTICLE NINE. A cat's name, including cattery names and the word "of" (before a suffix) may not exceed 35 letters/characters/spaces combined. When the name of the cat is longer than 35 letters/characters/spaces, the suffix will be automatically dropped. Type or print the name of the owner (may not exceed 35 letters/characters/spaces) of the cat and complete address, city, state/country, and zip/postal code.

No HHP’s may have a registered cattery name in the prefix position.

It must get a blue allele from each parent and a chocolate allele from each parent, that is, the parents must either be homozygous (affected) or heterozygous (carrier) for both blue and chocolate.
A seal can carry blue or chocolate or both, so has potential for producing any of the colors.
Chocolate and blue are separate unrelated genes. Because of this a blue and a chocolate can indeed produce a seal, contrary to the belief of many breeders. If the blue parent carries chocolate, chocolate is also possible. If the chocolate parent carries blue, blue is also possible. If both of the above, lilac is yet another possible result.
Two chocolates or two blues can never produce a seal. But if the blues carry chocolate or the chocolates carry blue, then lilac is possible.
Any of these can produce a white albino.
